Gory Orgy is an AI-embracing queer video-art project by New Zealand
multidisciplinary artist, Ed Lust.
Gory Orgy is a project I began in 2020, born from an interest in the lo-fi aesthetics of amateur gay pornography, body horror, and queer intimacy in the digital age.
It all started with a bespoke machine-learning model trained on a dataset of 3000 original queer digital collages created from pornography stills and fitness promotional material. The result was a model that generated strange gay anatomical conglomerations and an often grotesque visual language that continues to evolve.
Recently, Gory Orgy has expanded into a series of video art loops and mixed-media experiments using cutting-edge AI tools. It’s an open-ended project that I intend to eventually celebrate with a public exhibition.
Select works have been exhibited internationally, including at Beeple Studios and in Pornceptual Magazine’s Fluid edition.
This is a project designed to interrogate and celebrate queer sexual aesthetics and body distortion, especially within the performance-driven context of social media.
I’m always interested in exhibition opportunities. For inquiries, please contact Ed at ezlust@gmail.com.
A Note on Blockchain and Digital Ownership.
For those unfamiliar with NFTs or skeptical of their value – you’re not alone. But here’s the short version: digital art can now be collected and owned in a meaningful way thanks to blockchain technology.
Rather than thinking of it as buying a file, think of it as owning a transparently traceable artwork, verified through decentralized ledgers that track provenance and authenticity.
Many Gory Orgy video loops are available as 1-of-1 digital editions on OBJKT.com, an NFT art marketplace built on the Tezos blockchain.
Unlike some early blockchain platforms that were notoriously energy-intensive, Tezos uses a sustainable proof-of-stake system. It’s fast, energy-efficient, and has been widely adopted by artists and art institutions alike.
If you’re curious about collecting in this space, it’s surprisingly easy to begin: set up a Tezos wallet, convert your local currency into Tezos ($XTZ), and explore the wide array of independent artists pushing boundaries on OBJKT.com or teia.art.
This is not just for crypto bros – it’s for anyone who wants to support new media art directly from the artists themselves. When an artist mints an artwork, they can dictate what percentage they wish to receive from secondary sales. If you need assistance with setting up a Tezos wallet, feel free to get in touch.
For those interested in the more explicit side of Gory Orgy, R18 artworks too spicy for mainstream platforms can be viewed at goryorgy.com (but they are not for the faint of heart).
