Making art
that mines the
personal in search of
the cosmic
and the absurd.
More than ever, I am enjoying the challenges of crafting complicated, pored-over art objects that can shake up a space.
My particulate paintings start with a will to illustrate a dynamic or theory, such as gravity, accretion, dispersion, and develop intuitively through layering and surface archaeology, building forms slowly, sometimes over years.
In the past I have compared their creation to the workings of a rock pool, though I am not interested in the faithful depiction of natural phenomena but, instead, building abstract anomalies that can lure in a certain kind of viewer and not let them go.
